DMCA Policy

Copyright is important. Copyright abuse is unacceptable. Here is where I stand.

Hi, Sage here. Let's talk about the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

As a content creator, I create original work. I write code, I write articles, and I share my thoughts. I understand the value of intellectual property. I don't want people stealing my work, and I have absolutely no intention of stealing yours.

1. My Stance on Copyright

I respect the rights of artists, developers, and writers. If I use an image, a code snippet, or a quote on sageofhestaticpage.life, I do my best to attribute it properly. I believe in fair use, commentary, and educational value principles that are vital to a free and open internet.

2. Reporting Copyright Infringement

If you believe that your copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement and is accessible on this site, please notify me.

But let me be very clear: Do not abuse this process.

If you are a "copyright troll" trying to extort money because I used a 2-second clip of a video for commentary, or because I quoted a publicly available document, I will fight you. I know my rights, and I know what Fair Use is.

However, if I genuinely made a mistake maybe I used an image I thought was Creative Commons but wasn't just tell me. I'm a reasonable person. I will take it down. We don't need lawyers for this.

3. How to Submit a Claim

To file a valid DMCA notification, you must send an email to support@sageofhestaticpage.life containing the following:

  • Identification of the work: Tell me exactly what copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  • Identification of the material: Send me the specific URL on my site where the material is located. Don't just say "your website." Be specific.
  • Contact Info: Your address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A Statement of Good Faith: A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A Statement of Accuracy: A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
  • Signature: Your physical or electronic signature.

4. Counter-Notification

If I receive a DMCA takedown notice that I believe is bogus, incorrect, or infringes on my Fair Use rights, I will file a counter-notification.

I will not be bullied into silence by automated bots or overzealous legal teams. If I am within my rights, the content stays up.

5. Repeat Infringers

I don't plan on infringing anyone's copyright. But legally, I have to state this: If I somehow become a "repeat infringer" (which won't happen, because I create my own stuff), I will take appropriate action to ensure I am compliant with the law.

Conclusion

Let's treat each other with respect. If I messed up, tell me, and I'll fix it. If you're trying to abuse the system to silence criticism or commentary, go find someone else to bother.

Sincerely,
The Sage of Static
